Testing the Sony NEX-5′s video capability and the SamYang 14 mm f2.8 lens. Manual focus and the distance mark doesn’t quite line up at infinity because of the adapter. I had to manually focus the lens at infinity and made a mark on the lens before installing it on the camera mount. I believe the SamYang lens has a lot of potential. It is sharper than the Sony 16 mm f2.8 that came with the NEX-5. - No impressive tech-factor. You will look downright silly standing next to your friend with the NEX-7/CZ 24 1.7…ain’t gonna pick up any ladies (guys) carrying this ugly thing around, guys (ladies).

Hi so im looking to buy a used t1i and ive come across two bundles that were priced about the same. im new at dslrs so it'd be helpful to know whats the best for me.

Bundles are normally filled with low-grade junk. Buy the camera by itself.

By the way, cameras normally come with a battery, charger, cables, neck strap, and software in the box, and for entry level DSLRs, a lens.

HI all, I was hoping that someone might be able to help me figure out why my flash is not syncing up properly with my 18-200 mm Nikkor lens. I have a SB 900 Nikon flash and sometimes it will sync up with my D7000 and my 18-200 mm Nikkor lens but most of the time it will not. I have always tried to make sure my D7000 is off (sometimes forget to turn off) when I attach my SB 900 flash. I also try to make sure the flash is off when I disconnect or connect it to the camera body. I will then start up my D7000 and then switch on my flash. First thing I will do is move the 18-200 mm lens in and out to see if the flash has connected or synced up to the lens. When the flash syncs properly the flash's internal lens will automatically adjust the focusing of the light (in or out) with the lens zoom range.

I bought the HF10 for it’s super-fast focus when shooting my kids’ sporting events. I bought the TG1 for it’s superior portability. I’m happy to say both are awesome cameras. One big negative for the Sony camera is that 16gb of memory (Memory Stick Pro Duo Mark 2) costs 2.5 times as much for this camera as it does for the HF10 which uses SDHC. That’s a complete rip off but no other HD video camera fits in your pocket like this one so that’s the price you pay for portability. Battery life is another price you pay but I got every video I wanted, in great quality, from the beach this past weekend and had plenty of battery and memory to spare. If you’re going to film long events this is not the camera…

This post covers how well the Really Right Stuff MH-01 monopod head mounts to an induro CM-34 carbon fiber monopod. Sure, I could have  purchased the Really Right Stuff monopod for infallible design, quality and compatibility but I have heard good things about induro and decided to give one a try. At about $150, the induro CM-34 is a fair bit less expensive than the $330 Really Right Stuff MC-34 monopod. Although Really Right Stuff is my go to place for camera support, I wanted to keep an open mind to other brands and document my experience here on ADayNotWasted.com.
