Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH7 Review Posted

Panasonic has touted the Lumix DMC-FH7 -- called the Lumix FS22 in some parts of the world -- as a great point and shoot camera for portrait photography and, thanks to this camera's "cosmetic" modes, it does work well for portraits of people.

In addition, you'll find a touch screen LCD with the FH7, which isn't common in the sub-$200 price range. These two features alone make the FH7 a pretty good camera.

I haven’t bought a new camera since summer 2005.

At the time I was searching for a nice balance of price, size, flexibility and image quality, so I ended up purchasing a Sony H1 , a camera that still boasts relatively decent specifications considering its age: 5.1 MP, 36-432 mm EFL, f/2.8-3.7, optical image stabilisation, a 2.5″ LCD, and a total weight of 591 grams. Pretty ho-hum specifications by today’s standards, but quite impressive for 2005. Classified as a ‘prosumer superzoom’ it’s not the smallest, cheapest, or most powerful out there, but offers a nice balance of all of these; certainly when compared to an SLR, what it lacks in quality and flexibility is made up for by its size and price. When compared to a compact camera, what it lacks in size and price is made up for by its quality and flexibility. Woo!

How do I format (or re-format) my SDHC card?

I've been using a 4 gig card to take photos over the past year. After copying them to my hard drive, I delete photos from the card by dragging them to the Trash (on my macbook).
